Accredited Counter Fraud Technician (ACFTech) Programme

The ACFTech Programme aims to develop practitioners’ counter fraud knowledge, understanding and skills to a foundation level.  This comprehensive five-day course will provide an insight into counter fraud activities, including the principles of detection, investigation and deterrence.  It is the benchmark for desktop investigators and claims handlers, and ideal for those working in counter fraud functions.

All counter fraud specialists regardless of experience, working in a role that has a counter fraud function in the private, public or third sector.

No previous experience is needed for this foundation level programme.

  • Key legislation, the civil and criminal justice system and policies relevant to countering fraud
  • Fraud types, indicators, impact and threats
  • Managing intelligence in an investigation
  • Building a counter fraud capability
  • Understand the principles of undertaking an ethical investigation
  1. Complete a short online course – Fraud Investigation: Making a Difference. Four hours self-paced learning over two weeks.
  2. Pre-read task.
  3. Five- day trainer-led course. The programme consists of the theory of counter fraud activities for the first three days before tackling a case study for the final two days.
  4. Completion of a 2000-word reflective learning assignment post course.
  • The online course contains a number of self-assessment quiz-style questions.
  • Two multiple-choice knowledge check assessments.
  • Assessment of the written assignment

This programme is accredited by the Counter Fraud Professional Accreditation Board and recognised by the University of Northumbria Faculty of Business and Law. A CFPAB certificate is awarded on successful completion.
